School Fusion Information:

Online help can be found at www.schoolfusion.com and click on "teachers". It will run you through a tutorial of how to use fusion. I also have several hard copies of directions if you would like to stop by my classroom. Http://www.schoolfusion.com/help/content.php is a more direct site that has step-by-step directions for doing the pages. If you are a "webpage administrator" for your school, (you know who you are), you can get help by going to "website administration", scrolling down to the bottom of that page, and clicking the link that says "help for website administrators".

I've noticed that some problems occur because although fusion is very user friendly, it is STILL an html product (a webpage). It helps to have a "mindset" that understands that even what appears to be blank still has 0-1s in it, and that files and how they're hooked up on a server is important....and with all Internet based products, you must remember Internet connections are fickle beings.

This is especially true when adding pictures. The most important thing to know is that if you want to insert a picture, you first must have a file of it. I have a folder on my computer that is called "fusion pics", and guess what I have in it?.....fusion pics. Then I upload them from there. Some are photos I have taken, and some are free clipart I've found on the Internet. You just click right on the picture, go to "save image as", and put it in your folder on your computer. Then when you click the picture icon (when editing in fusion), it will tell you to browse the SERVER, and at the bottom "Browse files". Go find it on your computer, click "Upload". When its on the fusion server, click OK, and its in. (I'm sure the fusion people probably explain it better)

Where can I find free pictures to save and upload? Here are some places for free graphics and the like that I find helpful when doing webpages:
1. www.cooltext.com: Lets you make cool titles in a variety of font styles...even words that look "on fire"
2. www.grsites.com: Custom backgrounds, icons, and etc.
3. www.pics4learning.com: free educational type pictures and graphics
4. www.barrysclipart.com: an old favorite....some are not free, so be careful
5. www.freegraphics.org: Lots of free graphics to wade through....sorry about the many popups...but hey, that's what you get with "free"
6. www.backgroundcity.com: just what it says...lots of backgrounds
7. www.digitales.us: a great writing project site that also has a section labeled "resources". This is great place to find all kinds of things to use in technology projects and webs.
